CrossAge Studio · .NET + AI

I build .NET products and add real, shipped AI to them — not demos.

I'm Sven. For about eight years I've shipped C# and the Microsoft stack in production — APIs, Blazor and Razor apps, desktop tools, Azure. Lately I've been wiring real LLM features into those products: not a chatbot bolted on the side, but AI that earns its place in the workflow. This whole site, and the assistant that has opinions all over it, is something I built to prove that.

Available now — taking on part-time contract work (up to ~24 h/week), mostly remote.

What I can do for you

Three things I'm genuinely good at, in the order I'd reach for them.

Lead specialty

AI into your .NET product

You have a working .NET app and a workflow that an LLM could genuinely speed up. I add it properly — grounded in your data, with a path from prototype to something you can actually run in production.

  • OpenAI / Azure AI integration
  • AI-assisted features in existing tools
  • Prompt pipelines, retrieval, structured output
  • Prototype → production hardening

Full-stack .NET, Blazor & Azure

The bread and butter: building and improving real applications. APIs, web apps, the database behind them, and the Azure they run on. Tested, readable, and handed over so your team can keep going without me.

  • ASP.NET Core APIs & SignalR
  • Blazor / Razor features and whole apps
  • EF Core + SQL business logic
  • Azure (App Service, Blob, Functions), CI/CD

Desktop & legacy .NET

The corner most contractors avoid. I've shipped WinUI 3, WinForms and MAUI, and I'm comfortable walking into an older .NET codebase to modernize it without setting it on fire.

  • WinUI 3 / WinForms / MAUI apps
  • Internal tools & dashboards
  • Legacy modernization & refactoring
  • Migration planning for older systems

Proof, not promises

I'd rather show you working software than a slide deck. A few things I've built — the site you're reading is one of them.

LISA — an AI companion system

A persistent AI assistant with its own local memory, observation bus, and distillation loop — wired into a real desktop authoring app and used to draft, edit, and comment on content. My flagship piece on doing AI properly.

Zerg's Tech Hatchery (this site)

End-to-end platform: a Blazor Server front end, an ASP.NET Core API, EF Core + SQL, Azure Blob media with an auto-WebP pipeline, transactional email, analytics, RSS/SEO — and a WinUI authoring client behind it.

Custom .ztsl audio container

A bespoke audio format and a Blazor player package (shipped as a NuGet RCL) that streams it with range requests and synced lyrics. Built when off-the-shelf players didn't do what I needed.

Streaming Dashboard

A cross-platform (Windows / Android) MAUI app for live stream control — real-time scene, audio and status switching over OBS WebSockets and the Twitch API. Released on the Play Store.

Rates

Honest starting points, not a vending machine. Final pricing depends on scope, risk, urgency and contract shape — but you won't get a mystery number.

How I work

A good fit when…

  • You want a clear technical outcome, not a warm body on a Jira board.
  • It's a .NET app to build, improve, modernize — or add AI to.
  • Remote-first works for you; the occasional on-site can be arranged.
  • You value tested, readable code you can own after I leave.

Probably not me when…

  • You need full-time hours or daily on-site presence.
  • React is the main front end, or k8s/Docker/Terraform is the core ask.
  • It's open-ended staff augmentation with no clear deliverable.
  • You want the cheapest possible bid over the right outcome.

Who you'd be working with

I came up the slightly unusual way: years shipping production .NET across automotive, publishing and payments, then a stint teaching software development before going independent as CrossAge Studio. The teaching wasn't a detour — it's why I care that the code I leave behind is something the next person can actually read and extend.

Tell me what you're building or stuck on. A couple of sentences is enough to start — I'll reply, usually within a day or two.
